Medical disclaimer
After the Shot is an educational publication. It is not medical advice. Reading it does not establish a clinician-patient relationship.
The plan describes general principles of nutrition, movement, and habit. It is based on publicly available research on GLP-1 medications and what happens after them. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Talk to your clinician
Decisions about your medication stay between you and your prescribing clinician. This includes starting, continuing, modifying, tapering, or stopping any GLP-1 receptor agonist. Semaglutide. Tirzepatide. Liraglutide. Any compounded formulation.
Do not change your medication based on this book alone.
If you experience side effects, withdrawal symptoms, or any unexpected health change during or after your medication, contact your clinician. Seek medical attention if it's urgent.
Who should not use this plan without clinical supervision
If any of the following apply to you, talk to your clinician before starting:
- Pregnancy, planned pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
- A history of disordered eating or an eating disorder.
- Type 1 or type 2 diabetes, especially if you take insulin.
- A history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, or thyroid cancer. Or a family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2.
- Significant cardiovascular, renal, hepatic, gastrointestinal, or endocrine disease.
- Current treatment with medications that affect appetite, blood glucose, or gastric motility.
- Any other significant medical condition that affects diet, physical activity, or weight.
No guarantees of outcome
Individual results vary. The book makes no promises about specific weight outcomes, body composition, or health outcomes. The practices it describes may support metabolic health after a GLP-1. They will not produce the same result for every reader. They are not a substitute for medical care.
